As residents all across the Bay Area continue to clean up after Hurricane Irma, many are left wondering how to make up from financial and property losses left over from the storm.

  • Bay Area business owners hoping FEMA can help after Hurricane Irma
  • Beau and Mo's Italian Eating House in St. Pete still without power
  • Restaurant still serving community, but will need help recovering

Beau and Mo Wallace own Beau and Mo’s Italian Eating House in St. Petersburg. They’ve been without power for several days but haven’t stopped serving the city of St. Petersburg.

"We're open for al fresco dining in the parking lot, or what used to be a parking lot. Now it's the new dining room," Beau Wallace said.

Hurricane Irma came through, knocked out power, and ripped the sign off their restaurant, but it hasn’t ruined their spirits. They’ve turned their parking lot into a patio and have been serving a limited menu thanks to a generator.

"We enjoyed being outside instead of in the kitchen cooking. The community has really come together and has been here for us," The Wallaces said.

Like many home and business owners, the Wallaces are going to need help getting back on their feet. They’ve had to dip into savings to pay for their losses and to pay their employees. They’re hoping to get some support from FEMA.

The agency has set up online services to help those affected by Hurricane Irma. The web site -- www.disasterassistance.gov -- will ask you a number of questions about yourself and how you were impacted by the storm. It will then list a number of options you can sign up for.

"I'm going to apply right away and it will help us immensely," Mo Wallace said.
