Feeding Tampa Bay will be setting up distribution sites around the area for the next few days.

The sight of fresh food is a welcome sight for Ashley Stephens and her family after Hurricane Irma.

The family of eight evacuated to Alabama and came back to no power and working water.

"There's five daughters, myself and my mom and my dad. So there's eight of us in our family and our home," Stephens said.

One of the distribution sites set up by the group is in Lachoochee in east Pasco County.

"This was really helpful for the families as they're waiting for that power to be restored," said Feeding Tampa Bay's Jayci Peters. "It's getting them through those next several days."

Clean water is also hard to come by in rural parts of the area.

"Out here in a rural community, lack of power is a big thing," said Trilby resident Dave Hink. "Without power, there is no water."

The families are getting water, bananas and self-heating meals to get them through the next few days.

"The food will mean a lot," Hink said. "When you’re hungry, you’re hungry."

At the Lachoochee location, nearly 1,000 meals were handed out. Some will be delivered by Pasco county deputies.
