Bay area residents with roof damage due to Hurricane Irma can sign up for Operation Blue Roof.

The FEMA program provides blue tarps as a temporary covering to help protect property until permanent repairs can be made.

The “blue roofs” are provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and can only be installed on standard shingled roofs.

Operation Blue Roof is available at no cost to eligible homeowners.

Residents can sign up for the service at Right of Entry Centers that have been setup in various counties.

The centers are open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily:

Hillsborough County (opening Monday, Sept. 18)
Seffner-Mano Branch Library

Pinellas County
The Outreach Center

Sarasota County
