The Lakeland Police Department is investigating a suspicious death after the body of 40-year-old man was found at a construction area in Lakeland on Thursday, Sept. 14.
Lakeland Police responded to 8060 Highway 33 North around 8:35 a.m.
The victim was discovered by a construction team member who was driving a piece of equipment over to the area to retrieve the first load of dirt for the day. He soon spotted the body and notified the on-site manager, who then contacted police.
Detectives identified the victim as Miqueas Rodriguez-Gonzalez, 40, using fingerprints. They said Gonazalez had been released from prison on Sept. 1. He was arrested in April of 2016 for possession of heroin within 1000 feet of a church. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Detective Tim McDonald at 863-834-8955.
