Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Wednesday into Thursday morning, with a look at conditions through the end of the work week.

  • Hot afternoons
  • Increasing rain chance
  • Drier air returns next week

The drier air has continued to dominate our forecast. It’s not cooler air, but it’s definitely drier, which is at least a positive we need since the river levels are still running high.

Any isolated shower will go away with mostly clear skies overnight into early Thursday morning. Lows will be in the low to mid 70s.

Thursday will start mostly sunny with skies going partly cloudy in the afternoon. There will be a 20 percent chance of an afternoon to evening shower. Highs will again be in the low 90s.

Thursday night will go from partly cloudy to mostly clear with lows in the low to mid 70s.

Friday will be the first day this week that moisture increases enough to result in scattered storms back in the area. They will form and slowly drift westward, with most of them moving into the gulf in the evening.

Highs will be near 90.

Hurricane Maria will stay well east of Florida this weekend as it moves northward through the Atlantic.  Tropical Storm Jose continues to slowly weaken off the coast of Massachusetts.
