Pasco County Sheriff's deputies apprehended and arrested a homicide suspect on Jan. 10 after he was located thanks in part to a pizza delivery order.

  • Nieuwkerk involved in narcotics dispute Jan. 9
  • Nieuwkerk fired two handgun rounds at victims, according to detectives

Officials said Luis Marino Nieuwkerk was involved in an altercation over narcotics on Jan. 9 at 7036 Ashwood Drive in Port Richey. During the argument, Nieuwkerk reportedly drew a handgun and fired two rounds at the victims, then fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan.

The sedan was later found abandoned at an apartment complex at 10706 Yorkshire Court. Deputies kept watch on the complex, and were able to locate Nieuwkerk when a pizza was delivered to where the suspect was hiding.

Detectives with the agency's Warrant Unit found Nieuwkerk at the location and took him into custody without incident. He was booked into the Land O'Lakes Detention Center.
