  • Whyte accused of beating girlfriend, Kristen Moon, to death

Patrick Whyte, 34, was arrested on a first-degree murder charge for an incident that occurred on June 27, 2015.

Detectives said Whyte and his girlfriend, Kristen Moon, were at the Hyde Park Caf in Tamp where witnesses said he violently grabbed her and pulled her into his vehicle. As the couple was driving away, witnesses claimed they saw and heard him beating her.

Officials said Pasco deputies were called out to Whyte's home later that evening where they found Moon lying on the ground, unresponsive, bloody, and heavily injured. She died the next day on June 28.

According to officials, Whyte claimed that Moon fell out of the vehicle. However, the medical examiner's report stated that Moon suffered multiple injuries, including vertebrae fractures, skull fractures, rib fractures, and multiple hemorrhages on or inside her head. The report stated the cause of death is homicide.

Whyte was recently indicted for the crime by a Pasco grand jury and arrested Thursday night, Jan. 11, 2018.
