A 43-year-old Clearwater man was killed overnight in a vehicle crash along Hillsborough Avenue.
Troopers said a Ford Focus and a Mercedes were traveling eastbound on Hillsborough Ave., east of Countryway Boulevard, when the Ford overtook and collided with the rear of the Mercedes.
The impact caused the Ford to leave the roadway and collide with a concrete utility pole. The driver of the Ford, Matthew Cain, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
The driver of the Mercedes, Dasha Frary, 18, was not injured in the crash.
The crash occurred shortly after 12 a.m. Sunday at Hillsborough Avenue and Countryway Boulevard.
The crash remains under investigation.
