The cold air we’ve been talking about for over a week has arrived. This will be one of the coldest blasts of air we see this winter.

The entire region is under a freeze warning. There will be some spots near the bay and the coast that don’t get down to freezing, but the majority of the area will.

Lows will be in the mid 20s for Citrus and Hernando counties, upper 20s for Pasco County, upper 20s to low 30s for Polk and Hillsborough counties, and in the low to mid 30s for Manatee and Pinellas counties.

The winds from the north will make it feel even colder, with a wind chill in the 20s to begin your Thursday. Make sure to bundle up the kids as they head out the door in the morning.

Thursday will feature sunny skies, but temperatures remain cold as our highs won’t get past the low to mid 50s. The winds will die down a bit, but still be from the north.

Keep in mind also that the air mass will be very dry, so you’ll probably notice your skin feeling drier.

Thursday night into Friday morning won’t be quite as cold, but still cold enough for a freeze in many locations away from the water. Lows will range from the mid 20 to the upper 30s.

Friday will be mostly sunny and milder, with highs bouncing back to the low to mid 60s.

The bigger warming trend kicks in this weekend, with highs back to around 70 on Saturday and low to mid 70s Sunday.
