Delonda Walker turned over what turned out to be the gun allegedly used in the murders. At the awards ceremony, she received a standing ovation as she went to shake hands with Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan and Mayor Bob Buckhorn.

Afterward, Walker spoke publicly for the first time. She said she was "very blessed."

"It was very great they recognized everyone," Walker said of the others who received awards for their help in the investigation. Walker is the only one to receive the $110,000 reward in the case.

It's been nearly two months since Howell Donaldson III was arrested and charged with the string of murders in Seminole Heights. Walker played a major role in that arrest.

She told us that it's still hard dealing with all that's happened. But Tampa's mayor credited Walker with bringing an end to 51 days of terror.

"What for her, I don’t know what would have happened," Buckhorn said.

Donaldson III court process continues

Hours before the award ceremony, Donaldson's attorney and state prosecutors appeared before a judge and asked that search warrants in the case remain sealed. It remains unclear whether the state attorney will ask for the death penalty.

To Mayor Buckhorn, the answer to that question should be simple.

"If that jury comes back and says that young man is guilty, he deserves the same level of sympathy that he gives those victims," Buckhorn said.

The uncle of Monica Hoffa agrees. Hoffa was the second victim killed in the Seminole Height's murders.

They attended Wednesday's award ceremony and are eager to see justice for their family.

"Is Benjamin, Ronald, Monica or Anthony getting to enjoy Thanksgiving or Christmas?" asked Robert Hoffa. "Do they get to enjoy their families? That’s how I want to leave that. The ultimate punishment is [Donaldson III] shouldn’t be here, neither."

Donaldson's next court date is set for Jan. 26.
