A 43-year-old Hernando County deputy was arrested Tuesday morning after a standoff ended peacefully in Brooksville.

William Cole Brinson was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and three counts of domestic battery.

According to authorities, Brinson barricaded himself in his home on Royal Drive near Dandy Road for 11 hours. The incident, which started just after 7:30 p.m. Monday as a domestic dispute involving alcohol, ended peacefully Tuesday morning at 6:30 a.m. 

The county's SWAT team responded to the home and was able to convince Brinson to exit the home. Brinson has been with the Sheriff's Office since 2004. 

The investigation is ongoing.
