A house fire in Citrus County on Feb. 11 resulted in almost $250,000 in damages to the structure and contents inside the home, and also started a nearby brush fire, according to Citrus County Fire Rescue.

Authorities said units were dispatched to the fire at 50 Cypress Boulevard around 4:52 p.m. on Feb. 11. It took two fire engines and crew to bring the house fire and brush fire under control, as well as prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring homes.

A neighbor told crews on scene that the house was vacant. There was no electricity to the home, either, according to officials.

No was injured in the course of fighting the fire. No cause for the fire has been determined.

Citrus Fire officials estimated the damage to the home at around $180,000 and contents inside the home around $60,000.

The investigation is ongoing.
