Two dozen couples were married during this year’s group wedding ceremony held by the Pasco County Clerk and Comptroller’s Office.

  • Judge Kemba Lewis presided over ceremony

“We’re not asking for any presents from anybody or anything because we have everything we want. We got each other,” said one of the grooms, Sherwood Mills, 69, of Zephyrhills.

“What else is there?” agreed his bride, Dale Elphick, 67.

Judge Kemba Lewis performed the tenth annual event at the county’s historic courthouse.

Scott Davidson, 46, and Karyn Griffith, 32, of Hudson got engaged six years ago.

“She’s funny and brilliant. She’s one of those people who lights up the room when she walks in,” Davidson said of Griffith.

The couple decided to get married during the group ceremony after seeing a sign advertising it when they went to get their license.

“My first thought was, ‘Now I get double gifts – absolutely!’” Griffith said. “But then I’m like, ‘It’s Valentine’s Day and it’s cheesy.’”

Minutes before getting married, she said she thought doing it this way was adventurous.

“I already met a few couples, and it’s like, ‘Hi, how are you?’ And it’s cool to hear the different stories of how they got together,” she said.

Another couple, Ronald and Sanya Hampton of Spring Hill, stopped by as part of their eighth anniversary celebration. They were married here in 2010.

“It doesn’t matter where you get married. If you’re dedicated to your marriage and you took seriously your vows, there’s no reason you can’t make it,” said Sanya.
