Two Seminole Heights residents are planning to put up a mural to honor slain victims after another display was removed last week.

David Lee, who owns a building near N. Nebraska Avenue and E. Osborne Avenue, originally put up the display after victims of the Seminole Heights serial killer were gunned down last fall. The mural was revealed in a quiet ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017.

But in a surprise move, Lee later took it down and provided no notice to the community as to the reason why.

A couple who lives nearby is now planning to put up their own mural on a picket fence outside of their home, about a block away from the site of the original display.

"It shows the pride in Seminole Heights in what we have here," said neighbor Todd Sottong. "What we have here is something really nice and really great."

Lee could not be reached for comment.
