The missing 12-year-old Manatee County girl who is the sister of murder victim has been found safe.

Jalyssa Shannon, 12, had been last seen leaving her home on 65th Avenue West in Bradenton at 9 p.m. Sunday. When Jalyssa didn't return home after being gone for several hours, Jalyssa's mother called the sheriff's office to report her missing. 

She was located on Monday and is safe. The Manatee County Sheriff's Office has not released any details.

Jalyssa is the sister of Janessa Shannon, who was murdered last year.

Janessa Shannon was found in mid-July 2017 in a wooded area of the Triple Creek Nature Preserve in Hillsborough County. She had been reported missing on July 2.

Her father, Nahshon Shannon, was charged with aggravated child abuse and first-degree felony murder. Janessa was 13 years old.
