Another day, another flyer.

  • Patrick Mullins went missing while boating on Jan. 27, 2013
  • His boat was located quickly; his body was found nine days later
  • Mullins family still searching for answers

Jill Mullins worked her way down the State Road 64 Boat Ramp on Monday morning, striking up a conversation with anyone walking by. Her husband's photo in hand, she wants to make sure every boater knows his name.

"I didn't think it would go five years and not be solved," she said.

Patrick Mullins went boating on a winter evening in early 2013 and never came home. His boat was located with the motor still running, but he remained missing for nearly nine days, until his body was recovered near Emerson Point.

An autopsy report showed that Patrick's body was wrapped with rope and weighed down by an anchor. He had been shot in the head with a shotgun. The weapon involved was never located.

"It's been tragic, I hope that someday we'll have the answers that we need," Jill said.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office says they have been working the case as a death investigation. It's never been ruled a homicide, but they plan to follow up on any tips they receive.

For years a $20,000 reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest, but no one has come forward.

Jill hopes on this five year anniversary, her renewed push for answers will bring along the tip they have been waiting for.

"Somebody's gonna come out and say the wrong thing and as long as we have ears that are listening, we'll get this information to the sheriff's office."

Jill says the last week has been emotional for her as her first grandchild was born. She said that Pat had looked forward to that moment for years.
