Pasco County authorities are investigating the sexual assault of a 71-year-old woman.

The attack happened Monday at 10 a.m. as the woman was checking on a friend's home in the 7400 block of Heather Street in New Port Richey.
According to sheriff's deputies, the woman told authorities she was met by a man armed with a gun. The man raped her and then left the home.
The sheriff's office described the suspect as between 25 and 35 years old, 6-feet tall with a thin goatee, a scar on his right arm and a tattoo on his chest that reads "Dortha."
Deputies said the woman told them that before the suspect ran off, her told her his name was Kevin. Surveillance video from a home captured a person believed to be the suspect leaving the home on Heather Street.
