Crews are battling a 350-acre brush fire in Polk County, according to the Florida Forest Service.

The fast-moving fire broke out in the area of Highway 60 and Doherty Road in the Nalcrest community. 

Eight homes were threatened by the fire and evacuated. The evacuation order was lifted sometime around 7 p.m.

Several bulldozers and brush trucks were brought to the scene to fight the fire. 

Helicopters were also called in to conduct water drops.

The dozers are still plowing lines to try to contain the brush fire, according to FFS. 

By 10 p.m., fire officials said the fire had been 50 percent contained.
