Hillsborough County Fire Rescue and the Florida Forest Service are battling a brush fire in Ruskin Friday evening.
Forest Service Lakeland officials report the fire, which they've dubbed the "Stephens Fire," is currently 15 acres in size.
Stephens Road in Ruskin is closed due to equipment at the scene of the fire, limiting access to some nearby homes. Residents, however, have been able to access their homes on foot.
Officials say some of the equipment should be clearing out in the next few hours, and the road will be re-opened.
At one point, a single structure was threatened by the fire, but fire fighters report that structure is now protected.
No evacuation orders have been issued.
