News 13 has learned George Zimmerman is considering a defamation lawsuit against NBC over its reports about a phone call he made to dispatchers moments before he fatally shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman's attorney said the former neighborhood watch captain has contacted another lawyer about possibly filing the lawsuit.

Each of the reports on both the "Today Show'' and NBC's Miami station involve editing of Zimmerman's phone call to a dispatcher that emphasizes his identification of Martin as a black male.

Three employees of NBC and the NBC-owned station lost their jobs because of the editing changes. Currently, NBC is not commenting on the possible lawsuit.

Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder but has pleaded not guilty, claiming self-defense. A delay in his arrest led to protests nationwide.
