Casey Anthony's former attorney is now getting even more involved in the case against George Zimmerman.

Attorney Jose Baez is representing Sanford police Officer Chris Serino, one of the investigators in the case involving the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in February.

According to a Zimmerman defense motion, Serino recommended Zimmerman be charged in Martin's death, even after law enforcement came to a consensus that there was no case against Zimmerman.

The neighborhood watch volunteer was eventually charged with second-degree murder. He has pleaded not guilty, claiming self-defense after the teen attacked him.

Jose Baez said he will "represent Serino throughout the entire process."

Baez represented Casey Anthony during her trial for the murder of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee. She was acquitted in 2011.

In October, Baez complained to Judge Debra Nelson after Zimmerman prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda argued during a gag order hearing that Baez was held in contempt of court during the Anthony trial. Baez was never held in contempt, though he was fined for failing to turn over evidence to the court.

Serino is one of several officers and experts who faced questioning Tuesday in Seminole County.

Lawyers from both sides deposed Serino and other police officers involved in the case, as well as the medical examiner who performed an autopsy on Trayvon Martin.
