Florida's Democratic Party will choose its delegates this Saturday for the national convention in Charlotte, NC in September.

Rod Smith, chairman of the party, sent out an email last month asking people to apply to take party in the county caucuses that will choose the delegates. Those caucuses are on May 5.

Florida will send 300 delegates and 23 alternates to the convention to formally nominate President Barack Obama as the party's candidate in the November elections.

The Florida Democratic Party website has an overview of how delegates are selected.

The application period to be a delegate for the Florida Republican party to the Republican National Convention in Tampa is already closed.
