Florida Highway Patrol troopers said a man died after being run over by an Orange County school bus.

The accident happened around 7 a.m. Wednesday at Tyson and Narcoossee roads, which is near Lake Nona High School.

No students were involved in the crash.

Troopers said school bus driver Jeff Evans made a left turn onto Narcoossee Road heading northbound, but pulled out in front of a white pickup truck and motorcycle heading southbound.

The drivers hit the side of the bus.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

News 13 tried to speak with the Evans, 65, but he had no comment.

Orange County school district leaders said Evans is now on paid leave, which is procedure anytime a driver is involved in an accident.

They said he was still on probation. Evans was recently hired in July and will likely be terminated because of the accident’s severity.

Sgt. Robert Blackwell said Evans was stopped at a stop sign.

“He's required to yield to all oncoming traffic,” said Sgt. Blackwell. “Doesn't appear to be a speed-related crash what so ever. Maybe a misjudgment of some type. We are not sure yet."

The accident caused serious backups on surrounding roads.

As troopers investigate the crash, the school district said they will be also conducting their own investigation.

The people in the pickup were treated at the scene and are expected to be OK.

Troopers are working now to notify the victim's family members.  They believe he is between the ages of 45 and 60.

They said he was not wearing a helmet.

Pending the investigation, troopers said Evans could be cited.
