A strange sight at a Melbourne movie theatre Wednesday morning -- a man wearing unusual make-up was taken into custody.

It caused a stir for at least one moviegoer who called police.

"Theatrical facepaint, dyed pink hair and a leather coat," says Sgt. Sheridan Shelley of the Melbourne Police Dept.

That's what 21 year old Christopher Sides of Cocoa donned as police say he paced back and forth in front of the movie theater off Hibiscus Boulevard. He went inside, and to the ticket counter, where he bought a ticket for "Expendables 2." One moviegoer in line got suspicious and told the general manager, who confronted him and called police.

"By the time officers arrived he was walking out to the parking lot, they spoke to him and conducted a warrant check on him and found out he had an active warrant for his arrest," says Sgt. Shelley.

That was for not appearing in court on a misdemeanor drug charge. Police say Sides was cooperative with them, and also was not armed and made no threats while inside the theater.

Police say the makeup was similar to James Holmes, the man accused of killing 12 people during a midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" in Colorado last month. Holmes had called himself "The Joker," a villain in the Batman series. The villain normally has green hair though.

Some moviegoers we spoke with say considering what happened in July, something like this puts them on guard.

"I'd have a heart attack, I'd panic, it's very scary," says moviegoer Sonia Vargas.

We asked another moviegoer, Edwin Mercardo, if he'd feel comfortable sitting next to someone in the theater dressed like that.

"At this time, probably not," he said.

The theater was open for business throughout the incident. They are currently not showing "Dark Knight Rises."

The theater posted the following statement:

"A suspicious gentleman entered the theater this morning. The Melbourne Police Dept. was notified. The gentleman was under constant observation by theater staff until police arrived, but nothing happened. The Melbourne Police Dept. did a great job of responding immediately. The was arrested on a charge unrelated to the theater.

"As always, customer safety is our #1 priority. We continue to work closely with the Melbourne Police Dept. to ensure that the highest levels of security are in place."

Sides was taken to the Melbourne Police Department for questioning, then later the Brevard County Jail.
