As the investigation of a shooting that left an elderly man dead and a woman hospitalized continues in Osceola County, officials released the emergency call the woman made.

Kissimmee police said they were called to the home on the 500 block of Poinsettia Lane around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Martha Smith, 64, called 911 to report she had been shot twice in the face and hand by 81-year-old William Marble. She said he then turned the gun on himself.

Smith was taken to a hospital where she was listed in stable condition.

Police said Marble was pronounced dead on the scene.

Detectives said Smith and Marble are both caregivers for the homeowner, who was not at the residence when the shooting occurred.

No word yet on what prompted the shooting.
