A female bear and her two cubs were captured Monday in the Seminole County neighborhood where a woman was injured on Dec. 2.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) said the bears have been taken to a rehabilitation facility where they will be housed temporarily. FWC said they are still trying to capture the bear's third cub.

FWC has now captured a total six bears since the Dec. 2 when a 200-pound male bear injured Susan Chalfant. The 54-year-old continues to recover from serious facial wounds after officers said she was pushed to the ground while walking her dogs on English Ivy Court, off Markham Woods Road.

On Sunday night a 200-pound male bear was captured and euthanized after FWC said it fit the description of the animal that injured Chalfant.

A female cub was captured Dec. 3 and taken to a rehabilitation center in Crystal River.  FWC said the cub is doing well.

On Dec. 4 a bear was captured in a trap and euthanized after FWC said it closely matched the description of the bear in the attack.

Florida Fish and Wildlife said trapping in in the neighborhood has been suspended but cameras will remain in the area so biologists can continue to monitor the wooded areas of the community where bears have been reported.
