A man is dead after he was shot during a burglary at a Brevard County home.
Melbourne Police said it happened just after 2 a.m. Sunday on the 1100 block of Mathers Street.
They said 28-year-old Jermaine Williams was attempting to burglarize the residence when police said one of the residents awoke and confronted him in the kitchen.
The tenant shot Williams, who was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center where he later died.
The case remains under investigation.
No criminal charges have been filed in this case.
Williams was recently released from the Florida Department of Corrections.
