Two people are dead and another injured following a Christmas Day shooting in Orange County.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said it happened around 5:15 p.m. at the West Oaks Apartments on Royal Lake Circle.

Investigators said a man fired shots through the door of the residence where two couples lived and then went around to the front of the apartment and fired more shots into the front window and then got inside.

Once inside deputies said he shot Austin Duink, 24, and 21-year-old Donovan Cope.  The Sheriff's Office said the two women in the apartment fled and the the shooter then killed himself.

Deputies said Duink died at the scene and Cope was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Neighbors said they heard several gunshots ring out and took cover in their own homes only to wonder what happened later.

“We’re still investigating why he was over here, but he was known to one of the occupants inside, one of the women," said Lt. Paul Hopkins with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

“That’s sad. That’s sad man on Christmas Day. That is truly sad,” said neighbor John Holladay.
