Victims shared their stories Friday of Nicole Clawson, the woman now accused of being a first-class con artist, even defrauding a reality show.

Clawson was caught Thursday in Lake County.

Nicole Clawson was arrested in Lady Lake, after the sheriff's office got a tip from a woman who saw the story on News 13.

People first got to know Clawson on the TruTV show "Full Throttle Saloon," based on a famous biker bar in South Dakota.

But as her offer to give the show a million dollars slowly unraveling on air this month, detectives say Clawson was running schemes in Lake, Marion and Sumter counties. We were the first station to tell you about the warrants for Clawson’s arrest.

Her last victim, Melinda Liter, said she met her at Villages Medical Center where Clawson was outside pretending to be a brain cancer patient.

“I was just watching Channel 13 and there she pops up," Liter said.

Liter, being treated for cancer herself, welcomed Clawson into her home, the day another victim says she disappeared, Michael Trezza.

Clawson met the man in a wheelchair online. He quit his job to take her to cancer treatments. His family paid for a dream wedding that turned out not to be legal, while detectives say she was trying to use his him to buy two homes, one worth $4 million.

“Everything that was said in shopping for homes, nothing ever panned out there was always an excuse,” Trezza said.

Detectives say they are now working with detectives in Florida and six other states where she could face charges:

  • Indiana
  • Michigan
  • Ohio
  • Illinois
  • Georgia
  • South Dakota

In Indiana, Clawson posted fake obituaries for her children in a small newspaper, in a scheme to get money from people.

“It’s a sad shame that someone has to do that, especially for people who are really are sick or disabled to be taken advantage of,” Liter said.

Clawson is being held on $4,000 bond at the Lake County Jail. She’s charged with organized fraud.

Meanwhile Michael Ballard, the owner of the bar in that reality show, Full Throttle Saloon, told us over the phone that he was just glad she’d been caught.
