Two new recalls from separate automakers were issued Friday.

In the first, Nissan is recalling more than 200,000 vehicles due to issues with the hood.

The company is pulling 220,000 Altima mid-size cars because the hoods could fly open while they're being driven.

It affects cars from the 2013 model year, but it could affect other Nissan models.

Nissan says the secondary hood latch can bind and remain unlatched when the hood is closed, which could cause the hood to pop open while the car is in motion.

Officials say Nissan will fix the problem, and will notify owners.

In the second recall, announced by Mitsubishi, five models are affected; all that use the 4B1 engine.

Those models are the Lancer and Lancer Evolution from 2008-11, Lancer Sportbacks from 2009-11, the Outlander small SUV made from 2008-11, and Outlander Sport from 2011.

Officials say the pulleys on the engines can experience unusual wear and damage the drive belt. The damaged belt can detach, breaking the charge going to the battery and causing the engine to stall, and even disabling power steering, power brakes and possibly locking the steering wheel.

Mitsubishi dealerships will replace worn belts and pulleys for free.
