The explosion Tuesday of an unmanned rocket isn’t the first time a rocket exploded during liftoff.

On August 26, 1998, a Boeing Delta 3 rocket carrying a U.S. communications satellite exploded shortly after blasting off from Cape Canaveral on its maiden flight.

The U.S. Air Force said wreckage from the rocket fell about 10 miles off shore.

Two weeks earlier on August 12, a Titan 4A rocket carrying a spy satellite blew up.
