Today, President Barack Obama teamed up with the Chinese President to announce a new climate change agreement.

The United States has pledged to cut greenhouse gas emissions even further within 10 years.

China will likewise start relying more on cleaner sources of energy within 25 years.

As the world's two largest economies, energy consumers and emitters of greenhouse gases, we have a special responsibility to lead the global effort against climate change.

President Obama said he hopes the announcement will spur other nations to tackle climate change.

The White House said this marks the first time China has agreed to cut its carbon emissions.

"As the world's two largest economies, energy consumers and emitters of greenhouse gases, we have a special responsibility to lead the global effort against climate change," said the president.

While in China, President Obama and President Xi Jinping also talked about the importance of cybersecurity, the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, strengthening military relations and increasing trade between our two countries.
