The gift-giving season may be over, but that doesn't mean the shopping is.

Malls and shopping centers across Central Florida were packed Friday, including the Lake Square Mall in Leesburg.

But the big question for retailers Friday was whether more people were coming in to spend their Christmas cash, or to return unwanted gifts or use gift cards.

At the Lake Square Mall, it seemed like a whole lot of both. Lines at some stores stretched outside the entrances.

"It's pretty busy after the holidays, but it normally is everybody doing their returning and trying to pick up new things with their Christmas money," said Robert Farring, who was returning gifts Friday.

"You miss the craziness, but you can still pick up the values, so it's a good time," said Julia Johnson, who was at the mall looking for sales.

Stores hope for exchanges, or to entice returners to make more purchases. Many stores are offering sales in the days following the Christmas holiday.
