A large fire broke out Wednesday afternoon at a tire shop near downtown Orlando, on South Orange Blossom Trail near Kaley Avenue.

Orange County Fire Rescue arrived shortly after 1 p.m. to find thick, black smoke billowing into the area. The smoke could be seen for miles around Orlando.

Firefighters completely extinguished the tire fire about two hours later, after 3 p.m. No injuries were reported.

South Orange Blossom Trail was shut down in both directions from Kaley Avenue to 25th Street for about two hours.

Businesses nearby remained open in the area, though smoke and visibility were an issue.

The state fire marshal will investigate what started the fire. The extent of damage could not immediately be determined.
