Deputies in Volusia County said a man was bored when he allegedly stole a military Humvee and took it on a joy ride.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said Jose Quinones, 19, managed to drive the Humvee from Sanford to Deltona with a cable and locked padlock on the steering wheel.

Drivers in Deltona started calling the Sheriff's Office just before 8:00 p.m. Wednesday to report a swerving military Humvee with no headlights on, dragging a construction barrel and running red lights.

Deputies eventually found the vehicle parked on the side of the road but when they walked up to it Quinones started to drive away.

Investigators believe Quinones stole the Humvee from a Florida National Guard facility in Sanford.

Deputies said Quinones was under the influence of marijuana at the time.

He was booked into the Volusia County Jail on charges of grand theft, DUI, driving an unregistered vehicle and possession of marijuana.
