David Damus, the man accused of working with 15-year old Konrad Schafer in the Poinciana murder of 22-year old Eric Roopnarine was in court yesterday.

The defense asked for experts to evaluate Damus for a competency hearing.

Judge Morgan ordered the competency hearing for Damus during his pretrial hearing.

The competency hearing is scheduled for May 19th.

Damus along with three others are accused of trying to rob Roopnarine last fourth of July.

Later, Roopnarine’s mother found him murdered in their Poinciana home.

Damus is facing first degree murder charges, armed burglary, criminal mischief, and shooting into a dwelling.

Damus’ alleged counterpart in the attack, Konrad Schafer, is scheduled in court today at 8:30 a.m. for a pretrial hearing on multiple charges.
