Florida's seasonally adjusted employment rate was 6.3 percent in May, which is slightly up from the April 2014 rate of 6.2 percent, according to numbers released Friday by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.

The jobless rate is down 1.2 percentage points from 7.5 percent a year ago.

There were 606,000 jobless Floridians. The U.S. unemployment rate was also 6.3 percent in May. Florida's unemployment rate has been equal to or below the national rate for 13 consecutive months.

Flagler County has the second highest unemployment rate in the state, at 8.6 percent. Sumter County's rate stood at 5 percent.
