The Orange County Sheriff's Office conducted ground searches for missing Orlando teen Alexandria Chery in Orange and Polk counties.

Polk County sheriff's officials said Orange County deputies were conducting a search in Davenport. The search is along Jahna Mine Road, a dirt road off Lake Wilson Road, south of Osceola-Polk County Road near the ChampionsGate and Reunion areas.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office has been looking for Chery since she disappeared on Monday. Deputies arrested her mother's boyfriend, Sanel Saint Simon, on Wednesday in connection with the teen's disappearance. They fear she is in grave danger or worse, dead.

Saint Simon, 43, is accused of providing false information to law enforcement and attempting to destroy evidence related to the case. Investigators said they believe he may have tried to clean blood stains in Chery's room.

Investigators will not say what tip caused them came out to the location in Polk County -- about 30 miles away from where Chery was last seen.

Saint Simon was locked up Wednesday in the Orange County Jail on $7,650 bond.

Search crews will go back out to that area in Polk County Friday.

Family, friends certain suspect is involved

Family and friends of Alexandria Chery gathered in her neighborhood to help get the word out about her disappearance.

Her family said they have no doubt that Sanel Saint Simon is involved in her disappearance and even said he may have hurt her in the past.

“I never got along with him, I never trusted him,” said Alexandria's uncle Ray Joseph.

“It’s kind of too late, now my neice is out there," Joseph said. "And she’s nowhere to be found."

Family and friends marched from a nearby Publix down Good Homes Road to the Hawthorne Grove Apartments where she lived and was last seen on Monday.

Investigators found her room stripped bare, her bedding and most of her belongings gone. They also found blood scattered throughout, even on her teddy bear. Men’s underwear was found under her bed.

Saint Simon was charged with lying to investigators and tampering with evidence after deputies said he tried to take that underwear from the scene. As police continue their search the 16-year-old’s family and friends are praying for her safe return.

Family members are holding a candlelight vigil for Alexandria Friday at 6 p.m. near the corner of Silver Star and Hiawassee Roads.
