Labor Day is approaching, and it looks like more Americans are planning to head out of town for the holiday weekend.

Triple-A estimates nearly 35 million people will travel 50 miles or more from home.

That's the highest number for the Labor Day since 2008.

Out of the 35 million, Triple-A says 86 percent will hit the road and travel by car, which would equal more than 30 million people on the roads.

Officials say almost 8 percent of travelers will get to their destination by plane; that's more than 2.5 million people.
