A recent graduate of Timber Creek High School, Daniel Cajigas, is making waves in the financial world after developing a free iPhone stock app called iStockAlerts.

Cajigas said he became interested in investing, when many people were pulling their money out of the stock market.

“I originally became interested in finance around the recession. I was around 12 or 13 back then,” says iStockAlerts App Co-Creator Daniel Cajigas.

A few years later, he jumped into the market, quickly turning $4,600 into $9,000 dollars.

“Right before I came into high school, the summer before ninth grade, my parents actually let me start investing in the stock market,” Cajigas continued.

But last summer, Cajigas and his friend Eli, who he met during a New York City internship, thought ‘what if we can create an app that could do the time intensive and intimidating stock research for you?'

Several months later, the teens created their own mathematical investigating strategy and iStockAlerts was born.

“Our algorithm combines all these indicators. It weights them, based on expectations of success and then it gives you that holistic recommendation,” Cajigas explained.

The app tells you when to buy, hold or sell a stock and it’s a free download in the Apple app store.

“I’m trying to pursue a career in finance, maybe not directly with this app but definitely something on Wall Street or that type of nature,” Cajigas added.

Next week, Cajigas will begin attending the prestigious Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

As for the app’s future, the 18 year old said he and Eli are signing-up investors and working on iStockAlerts Elite.

However, they’re also considering selling the app, so they can concentrate on their college studies and investing futures.
