Congressman Alan Grayson will advance to the U.S. House District 9 general election in November after beating challenger Nick Ruiz Tuesday.

U.S. House District 9 is a closely watched race because so many candidates want a chance to unseat Congressman Alan Grayson.

Carol Platt won the Republican primary Tuesday, beating out two other challengers -- Jorge Bonilla and Peter Vivaldi.

Grayson didn’t hold back letting his supporters know he is standing on his record, and believes he will be heading back to Washington in November.

The district covers three counties: Polk, Osceola and Orange.
