A Daytona Beach police officer was arrested Saturday by the Port Orange Police Department after her spouse and fellow officer, Tabitha Martin, called for help.

According to the report, 30-year-old Sarah Louise Martin threatened to shoot Kristina Cicero, a third Daytona Beach police officer, for unknown reasons.

Tabitha Martin, also a Daytona Beach police officer, tried to stop Sarah Martin by taking her gun away.

Sarah Martin, however, took Tabitha's department-issued gun, which is a crime. Tabitha called police after Sarah sent her a text message threatening to kill Cicero. The text message stated: "I won't stop 'till there's a bullet in that (expletive)'s head. Don't worry. I already let her know I was coming, so it's premeditated."

Sarah Martin left the area on foot. According to the Port Orange Police Department's report, officers caught up with Sarah Martin on the I-95 overpass on Williamson Boulevard.

She was arrested, and the handgun was confiscated.

"Officer Martin has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome the (internal affairs) investigation or the criminal investigation," Daytona Beach Police Department spokesman Jimmie Flynt said.

Martin was charged with written threat to kill or injure, grand theft of a firearm and domestic battery.

Martin was fired from the force in 2010 after lying and misusing a department computer, Flynt confirmed. But she was rehired after she agreed to an 18-month suspension without pay.

Flynt said Martin's arrest is one more example of how domestic abuse does not discriminate.

"No one is exempt," Flynt said. "Look at the NFL. So, it's there. It's all part of human nature. And it's just something we have to deal with."

Flynt said Sarah Martin bonded out of the Volusia County Branch Jail. She has been with the Daytona Beach Police Department since 2008.

Last month, Sarah Martin was one of five finalists for the Daytona Beach Police Department's Officer of the Year award.

Attempts to contact Martin were unsuccessful.
