Religious groups have fought for the right to distribute their literature in public schools, and now, a group called Satanic Temple wants to do the same in Orange County.

If the group has its way, your child could potentially bring home from school a book titled "The Satanic Children’s Book of Activities" from the group Satanic Temple.

The book is filled with games, puzzles and pentagrams.

But leaders with this group – say efforts to put these materials in the schools is more of a protest to having religious materials in schools all together.

“It’s a really bad idea to allow religion in the schools,” said Lucien Greaves, member of Satanic Temple.

For the past two years in Orange County schools there have been bibles and atheist materials made available at 11 high schools. Those materials were placed in schools in connection with Religious Freedom Day – but now the group Satanic Temple say they want all voices heard.

“I hope people see the value in showing the children that there are multiple voices, multiple choices and multiple religious perceptive,” added Greaves.

Roger Gannam is a lawyer with Liberty Counsel – the group that helped get bibles in the Orange County schools back in 2013 -- and says Satanic Temple is mocking them.

“Their goal is to attack and ridicule Christianity and other religions and it’s uncalled for and inappropriate,” says Gannam.

Leaders with the Orange County School District say their legal counsel reviews all religious materials that would be distributed to students.

They say Satanic Temple has not submitted any materials for review yet – but they have written emails expressing their desire to distribute.

Earlier this year, the district allowed a Christian group to distribute Bibles in several schools.

The Florida Family Policy Council left Bibles for students at nine Orange County high schools, and Bibles were also given out last year.

That led to a lawsuit from an atheist group that wanted to give out literature. The lawsuit was dismissed after Orange County schools let the atheists hand out their material.
