The day finally arrived for millions of people anxiously waiting to get an Apple iPhone 6. Stores across Central Florida and across the world began selling the new smartphones Friday.

People waited in long lines outside The Mall At Millenia in Orlando. We also found people lined up outside other stores. Several people camped out overnight outside an AT&T store in Winter Park.

“Some of my friends told me I was crazy, but it’s worth it,” said Antonio Lopez, an iPhone 6 buyer who started camping out before midnight to be ready when the store opened at 8 a.m.

Many of the iPhone buyers were afraid of waiting to buy the devices in stores, because the initial stock of the phones are expected to sell out. Buyers we talked to say they’ve heard it could be several weeks before more phones are available for in-store purchase. The AT&T store in Winter Park sold out of the new smartphones by about 10:30 Friday morning.

We asked people who waited the longest if getting the iPhone 6 today was worth the wait.

“Yeah it was totally worth the wait.  When I saw it – it’s like so beautiful,” said Christian Figueroa, an iPhone 6 buyer.

“I enjoyed it. Wasn’t that bad of an experience, so now I’ll put this thing to the test,” said Spencer Fitch, an iPhone 6 buyer.

In addition to the iPhone 6, stores are also beginning to sell the iPhone 6 Plus, which has a larger screen and some other enhanced features.

Apple reports it sold more than 4 million iPhone 6 phones in pre-order sales last Friday.
