Longwood police are investigating a collision between an Amtrak train and an SUV that killed one person. 

Police closed State Road 434 and Ronald Reagan Boulevard due to the crash, but have since reopened the road. The closure lasted several hours, and drivers were advised to avoid the area.

According to investigators, the train collided with the vehicle on SR-434 and Ronald Reagan Boulevard and dragged the car several hundred feet. They say the vehicle was stopped on the tracks, between both crossing arms after they lowered.

Amtrak passengers remained on the train for several hours.

The man killed in the crash has been identified as 28-year-old Joseph Martinez Jackson, Clearwater.
