"Harry Potter" actor Robbie Coltrane, who played the half-giant Hagrid in the film series, took ill on a flight en route to a weekend event at Universal Orlando, the theme park reported Friday.

Coltrane was scheduled to appear at Universal's Celebration of Harry Potter, which begins Friday. But the British actor reportedly suffered flu-like symptoms Thursday night during his flight to Orlando.

Universal Orlando released the following statement Friday:

Robbie took ill last night and is getting the rest he needs to feel better. We are sorry he can't be with us this weekend, but we look forward to seeing him up and better soon.

Coltraine was reportedly taken to an unspecified hospital in Orlando after his flight's arrival.

The second annual Celebration of Harry Potter event, hosted by Universal Orlando Resort and Warner Bros. Entertainment, runs through Sunday, Feb. 1.

"Harry Potter" film actors Michael Gambon (Albus Dumbledore), James Phelps (Fred Weasley), Oliver Phelps (George Weasley) and Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood) are all scheduled to appear this weekend.
