Stephanie Morgan knows the world can be a scary place and she wants to make sure her kids stay safe.

“I think it’s very important for them to know some of the dangers in the world,” said Morgan, a mother of four.

Morgan brought her 7 and 9-year-olds to the “Safe Kids Fair” in Bradenton. The event was designed around 5 to 11-year-olds.

“After the age of 11, then they are going into a different age level. We're talking middle school and it’s a little bit harder to get their attention and keep it,” said event organizer Tami Goudy.

At the fair, kids learned what to do if they see someone with a gun.

“Stop, don’t touch, run, tell an adult,” Mary-Jayne Moore, 7.

They learned where to go if their house was on fire.

“Just go outside. And if your mom or dad isn’t there, just stay outside,” said Malakhi Moore, 9.

Kids also put their fingerprints on identification cards that go into a national database. The database helps search for them if they go missing.

“If I get lost, they will know how to find us,” said Moore.

Ken Gilcrest brought his 9-year-old because Halloween is right around the corner.

“They had a booth about Halloween safety. And you know that is something you need to worry about nowadays. You need to know where good people live and where bad people live,” said Gilcrest.

Organizers say over 100 families came to the event.
