Bob Ward, the Isleworth millionaire convicted of killing his wife in 2009, is fighting to get a new trial.

Ward was back in an Orange County courtroom Tuesday morning, facing the same judge who sentenced him in 2011 to 30 years in prison for second-degree murder.

Defense attorneys claim Ward had ineffective counsel during his original trial, and they want a new jury to hear the case.

Judge Jenifer Davis did not make a ruling Tuesday. There was no immediate indication on when she might make her decision.

Shortly after his conviction, Ward told News 13 there was a struggle over a gun between him and his wife of 20 years, Diane, inside their master bedroom.

Ward claimed the shooting was an accident, but the most damning piece of evidence against him was a 911 call he made, in which he told a dispatcher multiple times, "I just shot my wife."

Ward lost an appeal in 2013 to overturn his conviction.
