If you look around your office, you might be hard-pressed to find a colleague who's been working there for more than 10 years.

Try 75.

Carla Wallenda, 79, may have the longest running career in circus entertainment. As a member of the world famous "Flying Wallendas," the aerialist is once again performing at the 29th Space Coast State Fair.

"I think she's one of the luckiest people in the world because she's still getting to do what she absolutely, totally loves to do," her husband, Mike Morgan, told me.

Wallenda and/or her daughter Rietta perform daily at the fair, which runs through Nov. 15.

"It can be very stressful," Rietta said of seeing her mom attempt a stunt."It's very difficult to watch my own relatives."

We visited on day one and - before any guests could get in - Carla performed her sway pole act at 110 feet high. If you're trying to visualize this, think of a really tall, thin and bendy flagpole. No nets. No harnesses. And she stands up on hardly anything at the tippy top. Oh, and there was a breeze that day, too.

Talk about high anxiety for us on the ground. None, really, for her.

"I am in a world of my own and you forget about any problems, your pain and everything," Carla said.

She and her husband pointed out the first three sections of the sway pole. They are the originals from back in 1963.

"Yeah, they're from her aunt Rietta who, unfortunately, lost her life by falling from the pole," Morgan explained.

So one year later, in 1964, Carla made her sway pole debut.

"This is probably the most dangerous aerial act in circus because there have been so many tragedies," Morgan said.

Almost 80 years old, Carla continues to entertain.

"The biggest complaint that she has," her husband said, watching her ascend, "is it takes her longer to climb."

Doesn't it freak him out?!

"A lot of people inquire about it, 'Am I scared of her being up there?' and  I say, 'Oh no. She knows exactly what she's doing. It's when she's driving a car, I get worried.'"

His humor continues when I asked what she's concentrating on during the peak of her performance.

"She's looking around," he said. "Actually, the truth of the matter is she's looking for yard sales."

All shows and rides at the Space Coast State Fair are included with admission, which is $10 or $15 depending om the day. Morgan sums up Wallenda's performance best.

"I always like to refer to it as a ballet in the air."

So on the ground, our senior dare-devil must love carnival rides.

Nope.

"Well, I don't really go on rides," Carla said, "because I get dizzy."
