Supermodel and actress Kate Upton is helping her native Brevard County bring awareness to adoptable pets in shelters on the Space Coast.
Upton, who is from Melbourne, hosted the Grand Slam Adoption Event on Wednesday, along with Brevard County Sheriff Sheriff Wayne Ivey.
The event kicked off Wednesday morning at Space Coast Stadium in Viera ahead of the Washington Nationals' spring training game against the Detroit Tigers.
Upton, 22, is dating Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander.
The sheriff's office says Upton's family volunteers at Brevard County's animal care centers.
